Exactly 130 years ago, a large free hospital for the poor was built at the expense of philanthropist and sugar producer Nikola Tereshchenko. Here is how the famous descendant of the Vedic family, Mykhailo Tereshchenko, recalls this event: “130 years ago, on 2 February 1894, Pelageya and Nikola Tereshchenko, my grandparents, inaugurated this hospital. And for the ten years that he would live, my ancestor, Nikola, would come there almost every day, as if he were going to work. This large hospital in the centre of Kyiv was the culmination of their entire life for them, who had built many other hospitals and infirmaries before.”
Every year, Okhmatdyt diagnoses, treats and rehabilitates about 300,000 children, which is the same number as the population of the regional centre.
At the same time, the hospital accommodates 700 to a thousand children!
The gallery team is proud to be a part of the cohort of philanthropists. We invite everyone to curatorial tours of our largest charity gallery in Ukraine, where every 2 hryvnias from the sale of artworks is used to support wounded children and their families.
We work 7 days a week, from 11 to 19!
