Solomko Yurii

Born in 1962 in the Crimea.

In 1986 he graduated from the painting department of the Krasnodar Art School.

In 1992 – graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute.

In 1990-1994, he was a member of the art group “Paris Commune”.

In 1991, he started painting on geographical maps for the first time.

In the period from 1993 to 2001, he made many trips and participated in exhibitions in Poland, Slovakia, Macedonia, Austria, Hungary, and the USA.

In 1997-1998, he held the most high-profile exhibition “Cartographers” at the Trondheim Museum in Norway.

In 2003, the Helman Gallery in Kyiv showed the artist’s most resonant social photo project in the media – “Regeneration”, in which a beautiful amputee acted as a model.

Yuriy Solomko’s works have been sold at such auctions as Dorotheum (1999), Vienna, Austria, Sovkom (2008), Golden Section (2011), Korners (2008, 2015), Kyiv, Ukraine, PhillipsdePury&co (2009, 2010, 2014, 2015) and in 2016 at Sotheby’s, London, UK.

Currently, the artist’s works of several series are exhibited at Art Ukraine Gallery.
