He was born on 14 May 1955 in Lviv. His father is Vasyl Odrekhivskyi, a famous sculptor, and his mother is Maria Boyko, a singer.
In 1977, he graduated from the Lviv State Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts, now the Academy of Arts.
In 1978, he began teaching sculpture and drawing.
From 1980 to 1983, he studied at the postgraduate course at the Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School named after V. Mukhina, now the St. Petersburg State Academy of Arts and Industry named after A. Stieglitz.
Since 1984, he has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
In 1985, he defended his PhD thesis at the St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I. Repin.
In 1992, he was an intern at the Paris Academy of Arts, Beaux-arts de Paris – L’école nationale supérieure.
During 2016-2021, he was the rector of the Lviv National Academy of Arts.
The artist’s sculptures are in the collections of the Lviv Historical Museum, Ternopil Museum of Local Lore, City Hall of Villeneuve-sur-Seine (France), as well as in gallery collections in Ukraine and France. He works with monumental, decorative and easel sculpture.
Volodymyr Odrekhivskyi does not stop his creative searches, which is evident in the forms of his works or their cycles. Abstract or realistic, with natural smooth lines or geometrically sharp – the artist’s sculptures reflect both his inner state and project the actual present into art.
Currently, the works of art from several series of the sculptor are on display at Art Ukraine Gallery.
