Grek Dmytro

He was born in Mariupol in 1978.

In 1997, he graduated from the Myrhorod Art College with a degree in artistic ceramics.

In 2001, he received a bachelor’s degree in easel and monumental sculpture at the Kharkiv Institute of Art and Industry. While studying in Kharkiv, he collaborated on the bronze sculpture “Football” dedicated to the Kharkiv Football Club.

In 2001, he transferred to the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, specialising in Fine and Decorative Arts, and in 2004 he graduated as a sculptor.

Since 2006, he has been participating in stone sculpture symposiums (2005, 2006, 2007 under the guidance of Oleksandr Sukholit), after which he created a series of landscape sculpture projects.

In 2011, he collaborated on the monument to St Cyril and Methodius in Donetsk. In the same year, Hrek received a second degree diploma for his sculpture “Girl on the Roe Deer”.

Selected exhibitions: personal exhibitions “Breath of the Earth” (Exhibition Hall of the Taras Shevchenko Museum, Kyiv, 2014), “Breath of Space” (Triptych Art, Kyiv, 2014), “Great Sculpture Salon” (Mystetskyi Arsenal, Kyiv, 2015), “Clay Adam” (Triptych Art Gallery, Kyiv, 2017), and group exhibitions “Private Collection. Contemporary Ukrainian Artists” (Institute of Contemporary Ukrainian Art, 2017). Grek also participated in the international art fair “Art Palm Beach” (Miami, Florida, USA and Kyiv, Ukraine).

He works under a pseudonym, his real name is Snihir.

Currently, artworks of several series of the sculptor are exhibited at Art Ukraine Gallery.
