Beliaeva Julia

She was born in 1988 in Kyiv.

In 2011, she graduated from the Mykhailo Boychuk National University of Applied Arts and Design.

The artist works in many media, not limiting herself in the realisation of her own statements. Photography, painting, video, installations, virtual reality – Yulia Belyaeva is convinced that a contemporary artist should use the maximum opportunities to convey ideas. She was born, lives and works in Kyiv. She graduated from the Kyiv State Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design named after M. Boychuk. She is the founder of Graphinya graphic design studio. She took part in group projects that were demonstrated at the Institute of Contemporary Art Problems (Kyiv, 2017), Art TSUM gallery (Kyiv, 2017). The artist’s personal exhibitions were held in the Bereznitsky Aesthetics gallery in Kyiv and the Invogue#Art gallery in Odesa. At the end of last year, Yulia Belyaeva supported the charity project “B POSITIVE”, aimed at raising awareness of the problems of people with AIDS and HIV.

The sculptures and installations, as well as other objects of the artist, raise a number of socially important, sometimes quite sensitive, issues, such as new technologies and humanism, truth and post-truth, contradictions of post-totalitarian society, society as a biological organism, etc. When choosing complex themes, Belyaeva uses simple and clear forms, paying special attention to composition. In the mood of her works, one can often feel irony and light sadness due to the realisation that dreams of an ideal society will remain dreams.

Participant of many collective exhibitions. She lives and works in Kyiv.

Currently, artworks of several series of the artist are shown at Art Ukraine Gallery.
