Viktor Sidorenko

He was born in 1953 in Kazakhstan.

In 1974-1979 he graduated from the Kharkiv Art and Industrial Institute (now Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts), professor B. Kosarev.

In 1995, he became a laureate of the International Festival “Golden Section”.

In 1998, he was awarded the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine.

In 2001, he founded the Institute of Contemporary Art of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine.

In 2005, he received a PhD in Art History.

In 2007, he was a co-curator of the Ukrainian project at the Venice Biennale, in 2011 and 2013 – a commissioner of Ukrainian projects.

The most famous works: triptych “Summer”, cycles “Watercolours”, “Women and Flowers” (1990-1993), “Cytochronisms” (1994-1997), “Amnesia” (1995-1999); “Invasion” (1996), “Ritual Dances” (1997).

He took part in the First Kyiv Biennale “ARSENALE” (1995), as well as in the projects “Art-Kyiv Contemporary”, “Great and Majestic”, video art “Feaka”. He has held numerous exhibitions in galleries: “Black Square (Miami, USA), Saatchi Gallery (London, UK), Yermilov Centre (Kharkiv), Bottega, Mystetskyi Arsenal and Triptych (Kyiv).

Currently, the artist’s works of several series are exhibited at Art Ukraine Gallery.
