The author’s “Money of War”

The burnt $100 bill has a special history. When the area where the dacha of the famous artistic couple Ilya Chichkan and Masha Shubinai is located was under the threat of occupation, the artists had to leave their home. Before leaving, they decided not to risk a certain amount of money and hid it in the fireplace. Upon their return, it was very cold in the house, so without a second thought, the artists lit the fireplace. The story doesn’t tell us how much money was burned, but the three rescued burnt banknotes with Chichkan’s signature design became highly marketable rescue art!
