YAKOVETS VOLODYMYR
Born in 1960, in Cherkasy.
During 1970-1976 he attended art studios.
In 1980 – graduated from the Uzhgorod College of Applied Arts.
During the 1980s – 1990s, he visited the planners in Sedniv (a village in the Chernihiv region), organized by Tiberiy Silvashi.
In 1990, he became a member of the National Union of Artists.
In 1992 and 1994, he participated in the Biennale, held in Padua (Italy).
In 1994, he began to hold actions involving passers-by in public places in Cherkasy. The artist’s vision is therapy with the art of curling up to attract many strangers.
In 1997, he wrapped a three-story school in paintings (“The Way to the Renaissance”). Later – the construction of the city concert hall (“Noah’s Ark”). In 1998 – the administrative building of the City Council.
In 1999 – received the title “Person of the Year” for the best art project.
In 2010 – the artist conducted an outrageous performance during the exhibition “Energy of Love,” held at the Cherkasy Art Museum and was timed to the 50th anniversary.
In 2011 – joined the IV International Festival of Contemporary Art “Ego,” in Cherkasy.
In 2015, he had a personal exhibition – “Civilization,” in honour of his 55th birthday.
In July 2023, the artist’s personal exhibition “TIME” was held. It became a collection of three series of Vladimir Yakovets: “Fragments,” “Restoration,” “Language – 3,” the work of which the artist composed.
Volodymyr Yakovets participates in a whole selection of art projects in Ukraine, Poland, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Canada and the USA.
Currently, the artist’s works of several series are exhibited at Art Ukraine Gallery.
