RONDYAK OLGA

Born in Ohio in 1966, the artist has Ukrainian roots.

Olga is an art historian with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and education and a master’s degree in clinical psychology and community counselling. She has worked as a psychotherapist and fashion designer.

In 1995, she visited Ukraine for the first time, and since then she has spent a lot of time in her homeland.

In 2004, during the Orange Revolution, she began painting portraits of women as a metaphor for Ukraine.

In 2013, she started creating contemporary female portraits.

In 2016, she joined the urban project “Art United Us” (“Art Unites Us”).

In 2022, she took part in the “Independent” charity exhibition in Miami. The project was curated by Natalia Zabolotna, founder of Art Ukraine Gallery. All the funds raised were used to support wounded children.

In 2023, the artist held a solo exhibition, Overcoming, in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. The project is inspired by the stories of Olha’s family, who lived in Ukraine, and the contemporary experience of the Russian-Ukrainian war. “Overcoming” includes nine works, all created after February 24, 2022. Rondiak uses collective images of Ukrainian culture, such as the wreath and halo headdress. In this way, the artist honours women of the present and past who have set the standard for solidarity and strength.

Currently, artworks from several series of the artist are on display at Art Ukraine Gallery.
