Korchovyi Vasyl

Born on 23 May 1962 in Bozhkivtsi village, Khmelnytskyi region.

In 1989 he graduated from the sculpture department of the Kyiv State Art Institute.

Since the 1990s, he has participated in nationwide Ukraine art exhibitions.

In 1995, he completed an assistantship training (supervisor Vasyl Borodai).

In 2005, he had a personal exhibition in Kyiv and received the Grand Prix at the All-Ukrainian Triennial – “Sculpture-2005”.

In 2007 and 2009, he became the winner of the contest of the Kyiv Organisation of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine named after Mykhailo Lysenko – “Sculpture of the Year”.

In 2008 and 2009, he had personal exhibitions in Lviv and Khmelnytskyi.

In 2013, he became the Honoured Artist of Ukraine.

In 2023, the artist’s sculpture “Confident” caused a wave of resonance and was attacked by vandals. The artist’s solo exhibition “Informal Beauty” was held at Art Ukraine Gallery. The founder of the gallery and curator of the project is Natalia Zabolotna.

Some of the artist’s works are kept in the National Museum in Lviv, the Museum of the Battle of Poltava, and the Khmelnytskyi Art Museum. He lives in Kyiv.

Currently, artworks of several series of the artist are exhibited at Art Ukraine Gallery.
